The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Muriel Gladys Rose (nee Beaton), 83 years, on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at Health Sciences North. Born in Kirkland Lake, ON to the late Alexander and Florence (nee Weller) Beaton. Loving wife of Roger Samuel Rose (predeceased). Beloved mother of Mark Rose (Nancy), Melanie Stanic (Danny) and Raymond Rose (Carol). Cherished grandmother of Alex Rose (Kiara), Tiffany Rose, Travis Rose (Amanda), Pat Durette (Roxanne), and Rick Durette (Victoria). Adored great grandmother of Ayla, Abrianna, Ellah, Dorian, Kenzie, and Dawson. Dear sister of Howard Beaton (predeceased) and Mary Shepherd (nee Beaton). Fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Dawn, Lois, Lillian, and by many nieces and nephews.
Gladys devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her family. A caregiver by nature, she worked as a Registered Nursing Assistant in her early years. With a determined spirit Gladys returned to school, graduating from the Home Support Program at Cambrian College in 1989 and re-entered the work force to provide personal care to those in long-term-care and at home.
Gladys enjoyed camping and travelling with her family. She expressed her creativity through her cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and painting. For many years she assisted her husband Roger to create legacy wood-working items, which they proudly gifted to their family and close friends.
The Rose family wish to thank the staff at Health Sciences North for the care and compassion they showed to Gladys over this most difficult month.
In keeping with Gladys’ wishes there will be no visitation or service. A private Celebration of Gladys’ life will be held by her immediate family.
Donations made directly to the Canadian Hearing Society would be appreciated by the family.
