Pernu, Jarl “Joe”

In Loving Memory of Jarl “Joe” Pernu, 69 years who passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Health Sciences North with family by his side. Beloved husband of 46 years to Nancy Pernu (nee Luoma-Lepage). Loving father of Jennifer Pernu-Shields (Ryan) and Ken Pernu. Proud Poppa of Aiden, Owen, Avery Shields and Makenna and Hunter Pernu. Born in Falconbridge, he was the son of the late Jarl and Faye (nee Hillas). Dear brother of Ann Nixon (Ian), Judy McLellan (John) and Marnie Squires (Bob predeceased). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Joe loved the outdoors, being an avid fisherman and hunter. His favourite place on earth was sitting in the camp porch overlooking Red Deer Lake. Blessed with a sense of humour and stories that will never be forgotten by all who knew him. A special thanks to the staff on 5 South at Health Sciences North for their compassion and care provided to Joe. In keeping with Joe’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made directly to the Finlandia SISU Campaign or to a charity of your choice.
