Lamarre, Lionel Joseph Rosaire

(October 5, 1945 - November 14, 2023)

Lionel Joseph Rosaire Lamarre, age 78 passed away peacefully with family by his side at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. Born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario to Wilfred and Gilberte (predeceased). Lionel was the beloved and cherished husband of Colette (nee Labelle) for 52 years. Loving father of Sean, Tammy (Wayne) and Mario. Proud Papa (grandfather) to Candace, Cassandra, Gavin, Mercedes, Dylan and Michaela. Great grandfather (Ho-Ho) to Violet, Charles, Maxwell and Eleanor. Brother to Madeleine (predeceased), Lorraine (predeceased), Gaetan (predeceased), Rodolphe, Guy, Claudette, Helene, Roland (predeceased), Richard (predeceased), Rollande, Nicole (predeceased), Denise, Rachelle and Jo-Anne and caring uncle to all his many nieces and nephews.

Lionel was a social butterfly who was always happiest spending time with those he loved both human and animal, his beloved cat Sugar (1988-2005) holding a special place in his heart. Spending time on Manitoulin Island, playing cards, fishing with his children and siblings, were among some of the activities he enjoyed doing in his spare time. Every Tuesday Lionel loved going to Value Village or his “Gucci Store” as we called it. Like always when he was exploring, he was just like a kid in a candy store with the biggest smile on his face, always looking for new additions to his various collections of things he enjoyed. Christmas was always one of Lionel’s’ favourite holidays as it meant that he was able to be around those he loved and cherished. Lionel always loved having those moments with friends and family.

Lionel was a loyal hockey fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins with Bobby Orr and Brad Marchand being among his favourites.

Lionel loved his career as a well-respected and valued worker at INCO (Vale) for all of his years he committed to working the flash furnaces. Lionel will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved him over his 78 years of life.

May he Rest in Peace.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saint-Jean-De-Brébeuf, 26 Kathleen Street, Sudbury on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
