In Loving Memory of Liisa Krizmanich (nee Kylmala)

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Liisa Maija Krizmanich, who left this world on November 15, 2023. She departed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after an extended illness.

She was born on December 28, 1938 in Sodonkyla, Finland, to Elsa Esteri and Juho Matti Kylmala.  Liisa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother sister and cherished friend. She was loved for her kindness, easy laugh and sense of humor and she left a mark on everyone who met her.

Liisa migrated to South Porcupine in 1952, where she met the love of her life, John Krizmanich. Soon after, they welcomed their son, Mark Krizmanich(predeceased). Liisa loved them both fiercely and with all her heart. Liisa’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to family. She had the privilege of doting on her four grandchildren Tyler (Libby), Bradley and Ryan (Meghan) Krizmanich and Monica Mainville. She loved them all dearly and they were the light of her life. She was Gramma Liisa to two beautiful great granddaughters, Colby and Maija and she cherished her visits to Jocko point to spend time with them.

Liisa and John moved to North Bay in the 1970’s and they enjoyed a lovely retirement at Jocko Point on Lake Nipissing spending time with friends and playing darts at the Community Centre. Liisa enjoyed cooking for various events and the camaraderie of friends. She brought joy to all those who knew her.

Liisa was a devoted sister and she leaves behind Eeva, Pekka and Leena, Saara (predeceased) Jukka (predeceased).  Family was of utmost importance to her, and she delighted in the news and accomplishments of her many nieces and nephews and she was a “special” aunt to all of them. Liisa will be missed by all who had the privilege of sharing her journey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Special thanks to the nursing staff at the Daffodill Lodge Reactivation Unit. She received excellent, compassionate care. The family cannot express their gratitude for the above and beyond efforts of doctors and nursing staff.

As we mourn the loss of Liisa, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived.  May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
