It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Erin Duguay on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife of Michel Duguay of 44 years. Loving mother of Shannon and Justin (Katie). Cherished grandmother of Noah and Kohan. Dear daughter of Anja and Eric Haines (predeceased). Dear sister of Kevin, Kristine (Joeseph DeSilva), Diane (Murray Esche). Cherished sister-in-law of Reine (Jim Gibson, pre-deceased), Marlene (Donald Hart), Bernie, Pierre (Cynthia), Louise pre-deceased (Ken Harpe), Andre (Cathy), Daniel (Heather) and many nieces and nephews.
Erin and Michel met at Levack District High School in the 1970’s. Soon after graduation they moved to Elliot Lake where they started their loving family. Along the way they met many lifelong friends. Many hours were spent playing baseball. After some time in Elliot Lake, they moved to Val Caron where Erin worked for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board for over 20 years. Much time was spent over the years camping on Ratter Lake and Mattawa River.
Erin was most proud of her two grandchildren, who provided her with much joy. They were shining stars in her heart. She also enjoyed the company of her four-legged friends, most recently Pepper and Bailey.
Erin will be lovingly remembered as a brave, courageous, kind soul, who always put others first.
A celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

My dear Erin. We came a long way together, years in Elliot Lake raising our families, working and especially all the great times we had. I kept in touch with you my friend, we hugged whenever we saw each other. We were miles apart but always managed to visit whenever I visited Sudbury, my home. I saw you for the last time in September 2023, we hugged and cried tears of sadness and joy. You are gone now and I can only offer my deepest sympathy to your family who I know are missing you. But you are in a better place. No more pain, just looking down as an angel to Mike and everyone. I love you and will always keep you in my heart.

Our thoughts are with her family and cherished friends. We have had the pleasure to know this beautiful person from our immaculate days. Always, without fail we were greeted with a beautiful, kind, warm, welcoming smile. Our children adored her and her kindness. I adored the peacefulness she left me feeling.
She absolutely glowed when speaking of her family and her grandchildren.
We hope that the cherished memories you have of your Mom, wife, sister and friend will bring you peace and comfort as you navigate her passing.

My sincere Condolences to all the family. I am so sad to hear this. I remember Erin as being such a friendly bubbly person. She had a face that brightened a room. Big hugs to all the family.

What a beautiful person this world has lost! I worked with Erin for several years and will never forget her positive outlook, her beautiful smile and her dedication. My condolences to her family! She was so proud of you all and was happiest when she spoke about you! I had the privilege to work with Erin for many years, but was even more fortunate to call her friend. She had this incredible way of making people feel heard. Her beautiful smile will be etched in my memory forever. Erin will truly be missed. Michel, Shannon and Justin, I pray for strength and comfort for you all.

We first met Erin and her family in the 90’s. Our sons were/are the same age and on the same hockey team. She and I became fast friends. Our daughters were/are also the same age. Whenever I think of her, my ❤️ felt then, and still does now, that she was and still is, one of those special people who make the world a better place simply by being in it. She and her smile and her selflessness will be greatly missed. Knowing that she is now at peace is consoling for me. My heartfelt condolences To Shannon, Justin and Michel. 🙏❤️

Michel ~ Shannon ~ Justin ~ my heart is broken for you all ~ we lost the most loving soul I have ever known ~ I have never known Erin without that beautiful smile on her face ~ even when I went to say my goodbyes to her (she was sleeping and when she opened her eyes and saw Paul and I seated there she had a smile from ear to ear) you are one very special lady my sweet friend and will be sadly missed by so many ~ Rest in peace ~ love you forever and always ❤️

Erin, wow, what an incredible human being. Her whole persona was being as forthcoming, humorous and genuine. She was our Mary Tyler Moore in school. She always found time to listen. This world is less a really good person, it sucks. I wish nothing but peace and great memories for those that had known her through her life’s journey. I’m sad. Very sad.
