Umpherson, Carter

It is with heavy hearts that the family and friends of Carter Umpherson, announce his sudden passing on May 2/2024 at only age 31.  Dear son of Nancy (Charles) Marinier of Garson and Don Umpherson (predeceased).  Father of Emmeline (Mother Megan). Loved brother of Criss, Logan and Max.  Loved by all his grandparents but doted on by his grandma Eileen Pearson (Alvin predeceased) also loved by grandparents Eldon and Verlie Umpherson (both predeceased).  He will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Carter loved his music!  Music was his life.  He self taught himself piano at age 5 and expanded his knowledge to learn the organ, guitar, banjo, accordion, violin, saxophone, trumpet, and the stand-up bass.   Jazz was his style of choice, but he could play all genres by ear and by note.   He worked fixing instruments for many years.  He was part of many local bands and festivals.  The Sudbury music community will miss him dearly.

Many thanks to Jehnna at the Sudbury Centre for Transitional Care and all their staff who tried to help Carter and to all his friends that supported him these past few years.   In lieu of flowers, please donate directly to help support the Sudbury Centre for Transitional Care, 519 Notre Dame, Sudbury, ON https://www.sudburyctc.com/ .

5 Condolences

  1. It was with great dismay that we heard of Carter’s passing. He was a great part of our lives for several years when he worked with Bill at the Violin Doctor’s. We shared his joy when his daughter was born and watched him develop as a local musician.
We moved to Calgary in June 2019 and unfortunately the connection with Carter was lost.
He was a fine and talented young man who deserved so much more from life.
Our condolences to all family and friends who mourn his loss.
