August 29, 1937 – July 26, 2026.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine Mary Thompson on Sunday July 26, 2026 in her 89th year. She was the daughter of John and Katie Bella MacInnes of Windsor. She was predeceased by her husband, Vern, in 2001; by her brothers Ian and Angus (Kate) and her sister Peggy Ann. She is sadly missed by her sister Margaret Kechnie (David) of Sudbury.
Katherine was born and raised in Windsor and lived for many years in Toronto before moving to Sudbury to be with her daughter. Katherine loved and enjoyed her children Diane Jeffery (Harold Williamson), and her grandchildren Michael (Shan), Benjamin and Adam (Brooklyn) and her great grandchild Atlas; and Stuart (Sylvia) and Ian (Tyler), Kirstie (Calvert) and Kenny.
Mom was force of nature (as a couple of her nieces said). She loved creative activities; her knitting and embroidery were especially beautiful. She was very generous and always cheerfully supported her brothers and sisters in any way she could.
The family is grateful to the kind and wonderful caregivers at the Elizabeth Centre (particularly Home Area 1) in Val Caron for their support and care through this difficult time.
There will be no funeral or visitation but a private family Celebration of Life.

Dear Aunt Katherine,, what a long and storied life you lived. I will always remember visiting and staying at her home in Thornhill. There was food and fun and Siamese cats! I remember that she always had a knitting project finished and also one on the go! And, through the years, grandma MacInnes kept me up-to-date on what was happening. My MacInnes relatives were and are, so special. My condolences to all of you. Love, Katherine xo
