Tardif, Robert (Bob)

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Tardif, 77 years, October 31, 2019 at Health Sciences North with his devoted wife by his side. Beloved husband of 51 years to Esther (nee Peplinski) and loving father of Gabrielle Bourget, Robb Vaudrie, Paul Tardif and Daniel Cloutier (Annik). Cherished grandfather to Rebecca Bourget, Morgan Bourget, Keely Vaudrie, Sarah Cloutier, Emmy Cloutier, Jacob Cloutier and Eliot Cloutier. Bob was the youngest of 11 children. Beloved son of Jean-Baptiste and Marie-Louise Tardif (both predeceased). Loving brother of two surviving sisters, Marcelle Roussel (Jean-Louis) and Madeleine Tardif. Predeceased by his remaining siblings, Estelle Richard (Armand), Roger Tardif (Lydia), Janine Madore (Armand), Jean-Marie Tardif (Bertha), George Tardif (Ginette), Raymond Tardif (survived by Kathleen), Gerald Tardif and Henri Tardif. Born and raised in Quebec, Bob eventually made his way to Sudbury in his early 20’s where he became employed by INCO and worked as an underground miner for 34 years. An avid outdoorsman, Bob spent much of his free time fishing and hunting with many of his INCO buddies who also enjoyed the same hobbies and pastimes. Bob was a mastermind of small engine repair and general mechanics. Countless people came to the house to seek out his expertise and ability to fix snowblowers, lawnmowers, and basically anything that had an engine in it. He was more than determined to get each broken down piece of equipment operational again, and he loved every minute of it. Bob will be deeply missed by many friends and family. The family wishes to thank all the 4th floor nurses and Doctors, Pearce, Knight and Singh who, with their compassion, care and professionalism helped to make Bob’s journey home as comfortable and peaceful as possible. We also like to thank the Pharmacist Greg Belaz who, on so many occasions, ensured that any necessary medications were properly administered. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at the Valley East Lions Club, 4611 St. Joseph St., Hanmer, ON from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that all who mourn Bob perform a random act of kindness in his honor. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
