The Smith family wishes to announce the passing of a much-loved husband and father, Lew Gary Smith on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 at Extendicare Countryside.
Lew was an avid gardener who took great pride in his immaculate landscaping. Retiring after 37 years as a Forester with Ontario Hydro, he found a new passion taking up golfing. Most recently, he enjoyed the many visits from his former coworkers.
At the family’s request, there will be no service or visitation. Interment will take place at a later date.

Words cannot fix this hurt, but I am holding you in my thoughts. Gary wasn’t my biological
father but was a great mentor throughout my life. His kindness exemplified, and I’ll always be thankful for his kind words at my wedding. His impact on my life was profound, and I am heartbroken with you. He was a remarkable person to have lost. I will cherish all the memories we had together.

Sorry to hear of Gary’s passing and condolences to Bunny and family. Gary will always be remembered for all his kindness and friendship to our family throughout the years. A very special man, who will be missed by the O’Neills.
