SMALL, John McNeil        September 13, 1960 to August 9, 2022

In loving memory of John McNeil Small, who passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Health Sciences North, surrounded by loved ones.   John is survived by his wife, Dana (nee George) Small, his son Adam (Cassandra), grandchildren Nora and Charlotte, daughter Amy (Nolan Dydyk), soon to arrive granddaughter Addison, his father Denver Small and his brother, Wayne Small, mother in law, Sandra George, father in law, Robert George and brother in law Kevin George (Mary Jane). He was predeceased by his mother, Donna Small.

John worked as a well respected mechanic for many years, reluctantly retiring in 2019 due to his illness. He was a family man, and being surrounded by his children and grandchildren, cousins, extended family and friends made him most happy. John loved hunting and fishing and looked forward to every hunting season there is, be it deer, turkey, partridge or moose. He was often, but not always, successful in his hunting expeditions.  Plowing during the winter was one of John’s favourite past times.  He enjoyed going out during the night cleaning parking lots and driveways, listening to country music all by himself.  John was a very patient and giving man, always putting everyone before himself. His generosity was second to none and was quick to give his time and whatever else anyone needed.

A very special thank you to our family and numerous friends who have been there for the duration of John’s illness, to Dr. R. Singh, Erin, Kelsey, and Charlene at the Pain and Symptom Management Program at HSN, Dr. Holub for his continued support and care as our family doctor, Dr. Moudgil who took over filling out endless forms for John, Dr. Bilgasem who treated John with the utmost respect over the years, and the entire staff in the Dialysis Unit, who pampered John and did everything they could to make his time on the unit as pleasant as possible.   Without this support and encouragement, I don’t know how we would have managed.  A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday September 10, 2022, at the Northern Water Sports Center in Sudbury from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.   If you wish to make a donation to the charity of the family’s choice, please e mail smallfm4@outlook.com for further details, or a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
