Séguin, Claire (née Lapointe)

In loving memory of Claire Séguin (née Lapointe), 88 years who passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North on June 29, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late Gabriel Séguin. Loving mother of Jacques Séguin (Gina) and Suzanne Mathias (Marc). Beloved and proudest Mémé to Shawna Lapierre (Ben) and Nathan Mathias (Megan), as well as Great-Grandma to baby Sienna. Claire was born and raised in Creighton where she met Gabe. They were married in 1954 and moved to Garson in 1959. Claire loved spending time with family, her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.  She was a member of Garson Bowl for years, which is where she met her closest and dearest friend Joyce. Claire was also a member of the Falconbridge Senior’s Club, where she formed many friendships. In 2015, she moved to the Westmount Retirement Home where she was lovingly referred to as “Speedy” and “Trouble”! She took much pride in maintaining the library and helping prepare materials for various activities within the home.  The staff always went above and beyond to help Claire, especially when she became ill and could no longer leave her room. The family would like to thank Angie for always checking in on her and for taking such good care of her. Claire will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. As per the family’s wishes, there will be no service. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation made directly to Maison McCulloch Hospice https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/ would be appreciated.

  1. Sending my condolences to Claire’s family. I got to know Claire a little while staying in my dad’s room for 3 months at the starting of the COVID lock down! She always made me smile and I will always remember our chats in the sun room. Claire was so cute, she would get comfortable and have one leg over the arm of the chair 🙂 I thought she was feisty and its funny how we became instant friends. Claire will be missed!
