It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Ruth Roy on Saturday, November 15, 2025 with her family by her side at Finlandia Koti.
Ruth survived by her husband of 52 years Garry Roy.
She is predeceased by her mother, Hilda Stoneman and father Elgin Stoneman as well as by her brother Robert and sister Carol.
She leaves behind 5 children – Leanne MacLean, Donald MacLean (Sally), Debby Balen, Scott MacLean (Trisha) and Tammy Roy (Rob).
She has 18 wonderful grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren whom she cherished.
She leaves behind wonderful friends and neighbours: Richard and Brenda Boisvert, Bill and Kathy Gardner, Tony and Veronica Barrett, and Chad and Sarah Bates who have been especially thoughtful and kind people. We would also like to thank her PSW Marisa, whose great help was very much appreciated.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Finlandia Koti for their exceptional care for Ruth during her stay with them.
Ruth spent many years working in the ladies’ fashion department at Sears where she enjoyed doing some modelling as well. She loved to spend time with family and friends. She has been known to enjoy many games of Yahtzee and bingo among other games with her grandchildren. She was raised on country music and loved to listen to the guitar and sing along. Among her favorite songs were “I am the happiest girl in the whole USA” and “Funny Face”.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory can be made directly to Finlandia Village would be greatly appreciated.
A private family service will be held in her hometown of Parry Sound in the summer.
