It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Prowse on September 26, 2026 after a brief yet brutal battle with ALS.
Steven was met with the loving and waiting arms of his mom Veronica Prowse (predeceased). He sadly leaves behind his father and best friend Gary Prowse, his devoted sister Jennifer Swearengen (Brent McCandless). He will be greatly missed by his nephew Riley Swearengen (Taya Kamberbeek), his niece Raya Swearengen (Jay Sprague), his nephew Patrick McCandless, and great nephew Little B and great niece Miss Ella Swearengen and by his special friend Allie and her sons Jake and Adam. He also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Steven had the most amazing friends and people in his life, far too many to mention and I would hate to leave anyone out. He had so many different circles of friends. He was truly blessed. Steven had two people that were so much more than friends to him, they were family: Megan Dawson and Tanya Kozlich. These two women were instrumental in caring for and making sure Steven knew how much he was loved. They were there almost every day supporting and caring for Steve from the start of his journey and were his ride or die buddies for many years before that.
Steven loved life, loved entertaining and caring for others. He has been accurately described as the life of the party. He was so many things to so many people. From Santa to entertainer, Steve was always playing his guitar, feeding his chippies and squirrels. He loved being outside. He found a sense of peace in the outdoors.
The family would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to the amazing nursing staff, PSWs, Volunteers and staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice where Steve spent his final couple of months. The care and compassion that was shown to Steve and our family was beyond compare. A special thank you to Dr. Centis who went above and beyond to help Steve and our family navigate this awful diagnosis and make sure we were taken care of.

As per his wishes, there will be no service, however there will be a celebration of life on Saturday October 24, 2026 from 1-4 at Duke’s in Lively. The family ask you to write down your favourite story of Steve and bring it with you to the celebration.
