It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Joey Michael Plante (Plante) on Monday, October 12th, 2026 at the age of 42 at Health Sciences North. He passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones by his side. Joey was born on April 13th, 1984 in Sudbury to the loving parents of Patricia and Norm Plante. He will be missed by his brother Michael (Carrie Pellerin), his niece Aidyn, and his nephews, Damien and Hayden. He will also be missed by many close aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends - far too many to mention.
Joey was a kind soul loved by whomever was in his presence. He had a huge passion for music and ran a successful DJ company for many years. He celebrated countless weddings, anniversaries, parties, and milestones where he played hit after hit to keep the party going. He loved a good karaoke session and spending time with his family at camp. He was a fixture at the Yamaha dealer serving countless Yamaha customers for 14 years. Joey made friends with all he came in contact with. A gentle spirit that would be there for you at a moment's notice. A huge thank you to the exceptional medical team in the ICU at HSN for their empathy and astounding care in Joey’s last few days. He may be gone too soon but he will live on in all our hearts and the stories we share. Go rest high.
A celebration of Joey’s life will be held on Friday, November 13th, 2026 at the Colonial Inn in Coniston from 6pm to 9pm. Donations in Joey’s honor can be made to Sick Kids by clicking here.
