Michael O’Brien, 84 years, now joins his favorite girl, Nancy Joan, on Mike’s Mountain along with their eldest son, Michael. Mike passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at the family camp on Armstrong Lake.
Our dad had a huge love of hunting, fishing and just being outdoors at the camp. He also had a passion for playing pranks on just about everyone he met. His Irish sense of humor was the best and we never knew which of his crazy stories actually happened, most of them did!
His love for Purdy Chocolates was also well known by the family which is why we all knew to hide them, but we knew we failed when he’d walk in the room, mouth full of Purdy’s and a guilty smile on his face. What he didn’t eat, he’d hide the rest on us.
A special thank you to Paul and Debbie, two very dear friends to our dad. He loved and appreciated the friendship they’ve shared over the years.
We will all miss this very special man, more than words can express. We love you very much.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a food bank or homeless shelter of your choice and would be greatly appreciated.
So sorry for the family’s loss, I remember Mike from childhood, he tried to help me with the first fish I ever caught but ended up dropping it in the lake. Forty some years ago, at my great uncle Roger Currie’s camp on Lake Armstrong, I have thought of him often over the years as he just had one of those personalities. RIP Mike.

My condolences to the O’Brien family on the loss of your dear Mike. I will always remember him. He had such a great sense of humour. It was my good fortune to have known him and Joan for so many years. May your cherished memories live on in your hearts and support you through all of your tomorrows.
With sincere sympathy.
