Moroso, Dino

Peacefully at the age of 86, we sadly announce the passing of Dino Moroso at York Extendicare in Sudbury, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Loving father of Darren (Sandra) and Gerry (Denise), cherished Nonno of Lauren, Michael, Candace, and Alanna.

Survived by his brother Frank (Michelle), sister Mary (Joe), Christine, mother of his sons and predeceased by sister Irene (Roldo“Rocky”) and his parents Guido and Antenisca. Fondly remembered by his cousins, nieces and nephews and the rest of his extended family.

Dino was born and grew up in Copper Cliff and was part of the golden age of baseball in Sudbury where he excelled as a catcher and made a lasting impression in the leagues, most notably the Copper Cliff Redmen. He worked at Vale (Inco) for 10 years before leaving to help his parents run Moroso’s General Store and Butcher Shop, Copper Cliff residents will fondly remember “the store” on Diorite St. Dino will be remembered for his love of family, loyalty to friends, caregiver to his beloved pets, Max, Spooky and Shivers and his one-of-a-kind pasta sauce. He took great pride in his grandchildren’s accomplishments and seeing them grow up to be young adults. Dino was also known for his rendition of Frank Sinatra songs at family gatherings, a fond memory that we will keep forever.

Special thanks to all the staff at York Extendicare for their care and compassion for Dino, the family is forever grateful. At his request, cremation has taken place with no formal service, however a memorial tribute for Dino will be held at a later date in spring of 2023.
