Morin,  Jacqueline “Jacquie” (née Dumais)

(May 18, 1934 – Nov. 2, 2023)

Another wonderful soul has found her wings at the age of 89. Born in Ville Marie, QC.

Beloved wife of 67 years to Gaetan Morin (predeceased 2020). Cherished and loving mother and mother-in-law to Ryan Morin and Chantelle Morin (Peter). Special sister-in-law to Roger Morin (Denise). Grandmother to Jamie Lebreton (Stefanie), Mckean Learn, Daniel Morin (Jessica) and Melanie Antoine (Curtis) and Great Grandmother to Aspen, Lilliane and Lucie. Predeceased by her parents David Dumais from Haileybury, ON and Sarah (née Brisson) of Témiscamingue, Quebec. Predeceased by her siblings Réjeane "Jean" Gagnon (Roger), Simone Porter (Leonard), Mary Lysakowski (Don), Jacques "Jim" Dumais (Jeannine), and Yvon Dumais (Jackie). Jacquie was everyone’s Mom, Mémère, Aunt, Sister and Friend.

Summers at the camp on Lake Agnew were always buzzing with family and friends. Those days were full of sun and fun with the nights filled with music and dancing by the campfire. Jacquie was an accomplished musician and played under the stage name “Jacquie Rose” back in her day. Her bluegrass band "Curly Carter and the Mountaineers" gave Canadian country star Smiley Bates his start. She was also an accomplished artist painting beautiful landscapes and realistic portraits of her family and friends. Survivor of cancer twice, giving her a new lease on life, she spent more than two decades traveling across North America with her husband in their motorhome. They also spent many great winters with friends and family at their Florida home. Jacquie lived a full and meaningful life and will leave behind cherished memories with all who crossed her path.

A heartfelt thank you to all staff at St-Joseph’s Villa and Continuing Care. The family is so grateful for the care and support you provided to our loved one. A special thank you to her devoted additional care givers.

Donations to the Alzheimer's Society or St-Joseph’s Villa is greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Jacquie’s Life will follow at a later time.
