July 10, 1968 – June 14, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Wayne Montgomery on June 14, 2026, at the age of 57.
Victor was born in Fergus, Ontario, with cerebral palsy. His mother was told he would never walk. True to his name, Victor overcame many obstacles throughout his life. Not only did he walk — he lived a full and enriched life.
In 1980, Victor moved to Sudbury with his family. Victor thrived in school. His albums are filled with awards, program certificates, badges, and certificates of achievement. Academically as well as sports. He proudly earned his high school diploma from Nickel District Secondary School, graduating in 1987.
Victor was an avid collector who kept everything in pristine condition — comic books, music, DVDs, hockey cards, and postcards. He loved to learn and spent many hours at the Mackenzie Street Public Library. Victor followed politics, the news, and the weather, and he knew many facts. He loved to talk and could tell you more than you ever thought you could know about the latest Spider-Man movie, Doctor Who, or the weather across the world.
Victor was a wonderful big brother being 13 years older,
He took Scott everywhere; to the beach, park downtown to comics
North. He truly loved his family. he treasured photos, especially school pictures. He always asked about everyone including pets. He could be ornery at times but was also very funny.
Victor will be lovingly remembered and missed by his mother, Mary Montgomery (née Clyde). He was predeceased by his stepfather, Andy Gagne (“Curly”) as well as extended friends of the family.
He is survived by his brothers, Patrick Montgomery and Scott Gagne (Maggie-Lynn Pan). Victor will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Zachary Montgomery; Gabby; James Gagne (Kattie Moore); Kaidyn Gagne (Joseph Coates); and Kenneth Gagne.
There will be no service or celebration of life, as per Victor’s wishes.
