McGuire, Sally

Sally Marie Rose Ann McGuire was born in Pembroke on January 31, 1978, entering the world with a spark that refused to dim, no matter what life placed in her path. On June 2, 2026, she passed suddenly from a heart attack while at work, a place where she was respected, relied upon, and deeply valued. Her departure was unexpected, yet the love she left behind remains steady and enduring.

She moved to North Bay in her twenties, carrying little more than determination, a wicked sense of humor, and a heart wide enough to hold anyone who needed a place to belong. And belong they did, because Sally created family everywhere she went, wanted or not. When life did not give her the family she deserved, she simply built one herself.

One of the greatest joys of her life was her partner, Shirley Sagle, the woman she loved with her whole heart. Their relationship was the kind of love that felt like home, steady and playful, full of inside jokes, shared coffees, and the kind of quiet devotion that does not need to be announced to be felt. Together they built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and a deep, unwavering tenderness. Sally adored Shirley, and Shirley adored her right back.

Her love extended to her animals. Her cats and dogs were her constant companions, her comfort, and her joy. She loved them with the same fierce loyalty she gave to people, and they returned that love tenfold.

Sally was incredibly proud of her career, where she worked her way into a leadership role as an operations supervisor. She was the steady heartbeat of her workplace, reliable, integral, and the glue that held partnerships and people together. She did not just do her job; she elevated it, forging connections that lasted far beyond the workday.

A lifelong Blue Jays fan, she loved the crack of a bat, the dust of the diamond, and the thrill of the game. She umpired with fairness, grit, and a joy that made the ballfield feel like home.

Her smile was contagious, her laughter unmistakable, and her zingers legendary. She loved Tim Hortons, loved to make people feel like they mattered, and lived with a positivity that lifted everyone around her. She will be dearly missed, but even more, she will be remembered, because she made herself unforgettable.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13th from 1–4 p.m. at 177 McNaughton St., Sudbury, ON. Please bring stories to share. At 2 p.m., we will pause for a few moments of remembrance and welcome anyone who wishes to speak.
