McGee, Isla Evelyn

On Thursday, July 16th, 2026, Isla Evelyn McGee (nee Spence) peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus, while at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario.

Isla was born on April 9th, 1930 in Westmorland County, New Brunswick to parents Walter and Annie (Robinson) Spence. She was one of ten children, born and raised on the family farm. She had fond memories of family gatherings at the farm and kept in close contact with her family throughout the years. She is predeceased by her nine siblings.

Isla met and married the love of her life, Murray Allan McGee, in 1949. They were married 52 wonderful years, moving to Sudbury early on in their marriage, where they lived until Murray went to be with Jesus in 2001.

Isla began her career as a Dietary Aide at Memorial Hospital, along with selling household products for Watkins, charming many people along the way. She loved meeting people and sharing her faith with others. She was actively involved in her home church, Glad Tidings Church, and rarely missed a Sunday.

Isla was known for her love for her family, her unwavering faith, her infectious smile, and her incredible baking talent – especially her homemade crescent rolls and blueberry pie. She has left behind a legacy of love that will live on for generations to come. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren will cherish fond memories of her.

Isla is lovingly remembered by her children Gary McGee (Gayle), Paul McGee (Sue), Shawn McGee (Madeleine), and Evelyn Patterson (Brian). Loving grandmother of Dana (Cindy), Tod (Adrienne), Brady (Amanda), Jesse (Christy), Ashley (Jordan), Justin (Christine), Kaitlyn (Nathan), Taylor, Riley, and Connor (Brooke). She is also cherished by fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Isla will be dearly missed by so many, but we know she now resides in her heavenly home with Jesus. In my Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be where I am (John 14:2,3).

Special thanks to all the nurses and doctors on the 8th floor at Health Sciences North, who showed our mom compassion and loving care in her final days. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
