Passed away surrounded by his loving family after a hard-fought valiant battle with heart disease on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, at the age of 40 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, ON.
Derreck was born July 12th, 1982 to Terri-Lynn (nee DeLisle) and Adrian Materny. Loving brother of Trisha (Lukas). Adoring uncle of Elizabeth Wraight. Beloved grandson of Judy DeLisle. Dear nephew of Louanne (nee DeLisle) (Gord) Caza. Derreck will be deeply missed by his first cousins Gord (Tania) Caza and Kyle (Kaeleigh) Caza. He will also be sadly missed by other cousins, his great aunt and friends.
Derreck was predeceased by his grandfather Stan Materny, his grandmother Anna Materny, and his grandfather Robert DeLisle.
Derreck had a great passion for music, video games, snowmobiling and four wheeling. He loved his family very deeply and would do anything to help out in any way possible. Since beating his addiction in October of 2022 Derreck ‘s future aspirations were to be a motivational speaker helping teens struggling with addictions.
Donations can be made in Derreck’s memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association Cochrane-Temiskaming and would be appreciated by his family.
