In loving memory of Elie Martin, 85 years, who passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19th, 2026 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury. Beloved husband of Claudette Martin (née Larose). Loving father of Ron (Lynne), Eli, and Joey (Tracy). Cherished grandfather of Ethan (John), Kodie (Ben), Ashley, Shelby (Nick), Zachary (Candice), Lucas (Caitlyn), Brendan (Torie), and Mackenzie. Proud great grandfather of Easton, Lainey, and Wyatt. Loving son of Ida and Elie Martin both predeceased. Dear brother of Eddy (Audrey predeceased), Richard (Liette), Vivian (Ron) and predeceased by Evelyn (Virginio) and Lorraine (Dave). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Elie began his career as a driver for Pepsi Co. before spending 25 years as a driver for Sudbury Transit. Elie loved travelling with Claudette, especially their winters in Florida following his retirement. Elie was always the life of the party, with a smile on his face and bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around him. “I love you to the moon and back (and more!)”
The family wishes to thank PSWs Desiree Ducharme and Kyla Chouinor as well as the nurses, doctors, and staff of the Maison McCulloch Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Road, Sudbury, on Saturday, June 27th, 2026 at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated. In memory of Elie, please raise a glass: “Ziggy zaggy, ziggy zaggy, hoy hoy hoy!”
My condolences to the Martin family. I was born & raised on Jean street. We lived across the street from the Martin’s. So many fond memories.

I first met Elie at NDCVI at a sock hop – he was an awesome dancer! I remember going to the slag dump and the Donavan bunch would sing: “Elie, Elie; When you’re feeling high – Elie; He’s mild and gentle and good good looking – E – L- I – ELI!” He was a stellar human! My sincere condolences to all who shared his life.

Our sincere condolences to all the family on the passing of a wonderful man. I remember Elie with his big awesome smile for everyone, even a little girl knocking at the door to ask if his sister can come out to play. Elie made everyone feel special.

I’ve known Elie since 1986, when I started at Sudbury Transit. We all enjoyed his presence, his humour, and friendship. People like Elie made life enjoyable. Now he will be making the afterlife something to look forward to. Elie, we will miss you. Until we meet again Rest In Peace 🙏

Elie was such a special friend to my sister and brother in law who introduced me and Narry to him and Claudette. We spent many years together with them, with lots of laughs and great fun! He will be so missed. My deepest condolences to you Claudette and Ron, Eli and Joey and your families! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!❤️
