Martell, Bella (née Ross)

The family of Bella Martell (née Ross) is saddened to announce the sudden passing of their Mom on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024, at the age of 85. She slipped away peacefully surrounded by the love of all her children at Health Sciences North.

Bella was born on June 26, 1938 to the late Georgina (née St. Laurent) and Henri Ross. She was predeceased by her husband, John V. Martell (2002).  Loving mother to Marcel, Michel (Nancy), Sue (Martin), Mark (Darleen) and the late David (1981). She was Meme to 8 grandchildren, Lisa (Mark), the late Amanda (Ed), Jordan (Sheena), Mathew (Jade), Melissa, Samantha (Tyler), Briar (Dylan) and Zachary (Terri). Grand Meme to 10 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her 8 brothers and sisters. Bella faithfully attended church on Sundays and liked meeting family and friends for brunch afterward. She enjoyed visiting casinos, playing Bingo, road trips, family visits, watching game shows and the occasional happy hour.

We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Health Sciences North for the wonderful care of our Mom/Meme and her family. Cremation has taken place. At Bella’s request, no service will be held.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations can be made directly to a charity of your choice and would be appreciated by family.
