In loving memory of Phylip Arthur Martel, 76 years, who passed away Monday, September 7th, 2026, surrounded by his family, at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Charlene Martel (nee Lowery). Loving father of Timothy (Trina) and Jodi (Christopher). Cherished grandfather of Brody, Cassandra, Carlissa (Noah), and Makayla and great-grandchildren Maverick and Theodore. Loving son of Arthur and Helen (nee Donovan) Martel both predeceased. Dear brother of Phyllis Maki (predeceased)(Brian), Marlene Lambert (predeceased)(Carmen), and Donald Martel (wife Charlene). Sadly missed by nieces and nephews.
For over 30 years, Phylip owned and operated Future Wood Products Ltd, into which he poured his heart and soul. He also worked for T Bell Transport for several years as an equipment operator, which he also loved. Family was everything to Phylip, and he was proud to have built a camp where a reunion was held every year to bring the family together. Phylip could often be found listening to or playing his favourite country music on his guitar. He was very generous, famous for sharing his love of Tim Hortons coffee with family and friends. He will be sadly missed and forever loved.
The family wishes to thank the Espanola Regional Hospital, Health Sciences North, and Extendicare Countryside nurses, PSWs, and doctors, as well as the team at Bayshore and the Alzheimer Society for their care and compassion.
A celebration of Phylip’s life will be held at the Nairn & Hyman Community Centre on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 from 12pm-3pm, where friends are welcome to join the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
