Lizzi, Brenda Gail

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Brenda Gail Lizzi (nee Didone), 82, at Health Sciences North, Sudbury on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Brenda enjoyed 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bruno, and cared deeply for her family, her friends and her community. She dedicated time to the Italian Club of Copper Cliff, the Catholic Women’s League and Dow Pool Lifesavers to name a few. Brenda kept those around her well-fed with her home cooking and cozy in crocheted blankets and knitted socks. She welcomed everyone into her home and heart with open arms and a plate of treats. She will be remembered most for her kindness and generosity.

Brenda is survived by her husband Bruno Lizzi and her children Luisa Blackwell (Rob) and Carlo Lizzi (Val Visentin).

“Nonnie” will be deeply missed by grandchildren Bennett (Aly) and Noah Blackwell, Michayla (Cody) and Kris (Taylor) Lizzi, Brother-in-Law Francesco Rocca, nieces and nephews including Anthony “Toto” (Deb), Isabella and Jaxon Rocca, and Luisa (Brent), Milena and Abigail Moffatt, and all those blessed to call her “Auntie Brenda”.

Predeceased by her parents Angelo “Gino” Didone and Irene Didone (nee Taus), sisters Joyce (Duilio) Pianosi and Susan Rocca, and Daughter-in-Law Karen Lizzi.

Respecting Brenda’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, at 12:00pm at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 591 Brennan Road, Sudbury, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Church Hall. The Mass will also be streamed at ourladyofhope.ca.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Northern Cancer Foundation, Health Sciences North Foundation or another charity of your choice.

  2. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Brenda helped me out over the years with many recipes/cooking questions and was always willing to share her recipes with me. She and Bruno also helped me with some of the food prep for a few showers that I hosted for my family; generously offering their time and insisting that I accept her help. Brenda also assisted me in finding/contacting former alumni (from Little Italy/Up the Hill) of Copper Cliff High School for the
Reunion held 2 years ago. Without her help, I would have had difficulty in finding some of these difficulty finding a way to contact them. RIP Brenda. You will be missed.🙏🙏
