It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Robert Jokinen in Whitefish, on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the age of 66 years.
Born on June 14, 1959, Robert lived a life rooted in family, friendship, laughter, and quiet strength.
Robert was a devoted father to David (Tabitha), Derek, the late Kyle, Kraig (Skyla), and Kali (Brandon) Jokinen. Proud Grandpa to Seth, Riley, Iyla, and Willow Jokinen, who brought immense joy to his life.
Robert is predeceased by his loving parents, Lauri and Joyce Jokinen. He will be deeply missed by his brothers Kevin (Marie-Anne), Steven (Christine), and Glen (Brigitte) Jokinen, as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
Robert will be remembered for his loyalty to family and friends, and his wonderful sense of humour.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
At Robert’s request, there will no funeral service.

I have spent 30 years (in June) being “Jokinen’s” neighbour. Rob was not just a neighbour, he was a dear friend. Our children were raised together and spent many occasions together. We took vacations together on the Island, many drinks around the bonfire, many stories shared, some good some not for little ears nevertheless LOL. Jokes and laughter till the wee hours of the morning! Rob was not just my neighbour, he was a dear friend. Someone that I could count on and call whenever I was “a damsel in distress”. Even calling him a work and he would assure me he could help when he was done work. He was a quiet man at times and a man of few words at times but sometimes silence is understood. RIP dear friend. Until we raise a glass and cheers again, so long “Robert” Fly be free!

In the brief time that I knew Rob, I saw his wicked sense of humour that was much appreciated. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family and friends and am sorry that there wasn’t time to say goodbye. Skyla, my daughter, enjoyed his stories and respected his advice. They shared a curiosity regarding preparation of foods especially by the smoker. Some were enjoyed as a success whereby a few didn’t receive the same rave reviews (self generated). In my view he was as a good man and a devoted family man. RIP Rob
