They can leave a name off a piece of paper, but they cannot erase the blood, the history, or the bond we shared. As the first-born, I know exactly who we were to each other, and no one else’s anger, passive choices, or deflections can change the reality of our connection.
I am holding onto the real memories—the quiet moments, the shared laughs, and the private history that belonged only to the two of us. Rodger's place in my life, and my place in his, is a fact that stands entirely on its own.
