Robert “Bob” Lachapelle passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the age of 93. He was the beloved son of the late Ubald and Eugénie (née Labonté) Lachapelle. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Berthe Lachapelle, in 2023.
He was a devoted and loving father to Carmen (predeceased), Richard (Lise), Réjean (Suzanne), René (Danielle), Yvan (predeceased), Luc (predeceased) (Jocelyne), Gérald (Lucie), and Roberte Warr (Danny). He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his siblings Roland, Jeanne, Paul and Aline. He was predeceased by his siblings Jean, Marie-Claire, Jules, Alphonse, and Pierre.
Bob loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was skilled in fabrication, mechanics, and garage work—a true jack of all trades who was always ready to build, repair, or lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
He especially enjoyed puttering around the house, always dreaming up his next project. With an inventive mind and a knack for fixing almost anything, Bob was happiest when he was creating, improving, or solving a problem with his own hands.
Bob also enjoyed playing his violin and harmonica, and his music was a cherished part of many family gatherings.
At the end of the day, one of Bob’s greatest pleasures was sharing a cold beer with his sons, friends, or anyone who happened to stop by. Those simple moments of conversation, laughter, and companionship meant the world to him.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, hardworking spirit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff on the 5th Floor at Extendicare York for the compassion and kindness they showed Bob throughout his stay.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
