In Loving Memory of Linda Lalande ❤️

October 26, 2026

Linda was a ray of sunshine to everyone who knew her. She was loving, caring, full of life, and had a way of making people feel comfortable the moment they met her. She loved people, loved to talk, and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone!

Linda spent many years working at The Great Hall at Laurentian University in Sudbury before moving to Manitoba, where she worked as a Personal Support Worker. After retiring, she returned to Sudbury to be closer to her family.

If there was one thing Linda loved, it was cooking and entertaining. She was truly the “hostess with the mostest!” She loved having people around, making sure everyone was fed, and enjoying a good chat. Linda also absolutely loved music. Whenever a favourite tune came on, her face would light up as she sang along and danced. Music brought her so much happiness and was a special part of who she was.

Linda always loved to look her best, too! She enjoyed dressing up and taking pride in her appearance, looking polished and shining like a diamond. Her name means beautiful in Spanish, and that describes Linda perfectly, inside and out.

In her later years, Linda lived with dementia and made her home at Pioneer Manor. Although life became more difficult for her, she continued to share that beautiful smile that so many people will remember. Music remained a wonderful source of comfort and happiness for Linda during this time. A familiar tune could brighten her day and bring a sparkle to her eyes. The staff at Pioneer Manor came to love her, too, and we are so thankful for the kindness and dignity they showed her.

Linda leaves behind her loving son, Allan Janakowski (Lori); her daughter, Sabrina; her cherished grandson and granddaughters; her brother, Armand Lalande (Paula); and her sister, Jo-Anne Lalande (Brad). She will also be dearly missed by her beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends who were like family.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Marcel Lalande and Beatrice, and her beloved brother, Reg Lalande.

A heartfelt thank you to Bonnie, Lana, Courtney, and all the staff at Pioneer Manor for caring for Linda with such compassion and love during her most vulnerable years. Our family will always be grateful.

Linda leaves behind so many memories of good food, laughter, lively conversations, and a beautiful smile that could light up a room. She had a special way of bringing people together, and she will be missed more than words can say.

Rest peacefully, Linda. Keep shining like the diamond you were. You will always be loved and never forgotten. ❤️
