Hyytiainen, Sharon Elizabeth (née Goodward)

Passed very peacefully at home with loving family by her side on the morning of July 17, 2022, from ALS. Daughter of the late Cecil and Enid Goodward (née Solmonson). Loving wife and best friend of Wally Hyytiainen for 59 years.  The best mom ever to Sherri (Mike) and Tracy Vigneaut (Roger). Loving UMMA to William (Deanna, Rosabelle) and Paige.  Beloved sister of Bill (Margaret) Goodward. And survived by her sister-in-law Sylvianne Hyytiainen and predeceased by her bother-in-law uncle “B” Bill.  Sadly, missed by her nieces Cheryl Serre (Sean Preseau), Lisa (Kevin) Massicotte, nephews Terry (Joanne) Goodward and Robbie Hyytiainen (predeceased). And great nieces and nephews Jessica (Jesse), Jeremy (Christina), Alexander, Janessa (Trystin), Dean and Kate.

Sharon Started her career at the TD Bank in Lively.  Shortly after, she started a family. Sharon became a stay-at-home mom, until her girls went to school and became a bus driver for 25 years. Once retired Sharon became an extreme Nascar fan.  Jeff Gordon #24 I’m sure has no idea that Sharon was his #1 fan.  Sharon and Wally, and sometimes their family and friends would travel all over the United States to attend these races.  She had made so many wonderful relationships along her Nascar journey.  Nascar was not her only passion.  No one took care of her horses like she did.  Sharon was the only person we knew in the horse world, who would peel carrots. Her modo was “if I won’t eat it, I’m not feeding them to my horses”.

The family would like to thank Dr. Centis, Belinda Zehrt and her ALS team at Ottawa General hospital.  Sherri and Emily at Homecare and their team, Tara Fielding, Lindsey, Julie, and Seija at Bayshore and lifelong friend Marlene Neva for the support, friendship, care, and compassion you all have shared and shown us in this troubling time. In lieu of flowers donation can be made directly in memory of Sharon to Pet Save https://petsavesudbury.com/ .  A Celebration of Life will be held on August 11, 2022, at Fielding Park from 5-9 pm.  All are welcome.

“Goodnight MOM-We Love you XO”
