Huska, Anita (Ellen) (née Guyan)

March 1, 1936 - January 3, 2023

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Anita (Ellen) Huska on January 3, 2023, at Health Sciences North at the age of 86.

Anita was the loving wife of the late Tony (Anthony) Huska and the beloved mother of sons Michael, Wayne, and Jeff. A caring and devoted mother-in-law to Sherry (Mike), Kym (Wayne) and Mary (Jeff), she was very proud and honoured to be an endearing and thoughtful grandmother to Nikolai, Jonathan, Isaiah, Patrick, and her very special Elizabeth. She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Mickey Guyan and Maria Shane, her sister-in-law Molly Guyan and her” guardian” niece Sue (Dellelce), in addition to a multitude of family including countless nieces and nephews and friends across this province and this country.

From those very early years as a playground volunteer and busy hockey mom right up until her passing she had continually strived to put the needs of all others above her own. She constantly affected all who knew her, with her focused determination, warm hearted consideration, caring disposition, and unrelenting joy for life. Her gracious demeanor, incredible sense of humour and affectionate tenderness touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Although poor health in recent years had noticeably slowed her down, she never lacked for sharing and receiving love and affection from countless friends and family. She has been that “not so secret” ingredient that built, nourished, supported, and solidified the Huska family. And she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love.

She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to both the staff in the Emergency Department and 4 North Palliative Care floor. As per Anita’s expressed wishes a private service for immediate family members will be held at a later date.

  1. Dear family of my Auntie,
Your precious Mother, Grandmother, was reaching out to me through letters and Messenger in these last few years. My Mother was her sister Madge (Madeline” Clement, nee Guyan. Mom died in 2000. Auntie tried to keep me posted about the family.
What the condolences say is just what I would expect, for such an amazing person. The world may have lost her, but her spirit will remain a blessing to all who were honoured to have her in their life.
You remain in my thoughts and prayers.
    Most sincerely,
    Marjorie Wark Sarnia Ontario

  2. To the Huska Families of Michael, Wayne and Jeff,
It is always difficult to celebrate the life of a departed love one… especially so when it’s your Mom, the Matriarch of your Clan. Nonetheless, as the days of mourning pass I hope you will be able to truly celebrate the greatness that your Mother brought to you and your families in life.
As an only slightly older cousin, I want to share with you a recurring thought I’ve had of our Granny trying to keep order with her noisy, jubilant Guyan Girls as they welcome their sister Anita- your Mom -through the Pearly Gates…what a celebration for everyone …and Tony, your Dad, is there too, saying something like “what took you so long”. This party never ends.
Hope we have the chance to meet up again soon.
