Speeches and toasts will be made throughout the event. There will be snacks, coffee, tea and a cash bar. The Celebration will take place at the Caruso Club (385 Haig St., Sudbury, ON.) on Saturday, February 25th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Gerry Hogan, peacefully on Tuesday December 6, 2022, surrounded by those he loved. Loving and dedicated father of Justin, Kimberly, and Stephanie. Cherished brother of Denis (Katherine), Diane (late Marcel), Denise, Lorraine (Gary), Giselle (Al), and Pauline (Greg). Beloved life partner of Bryon and his children Lyndsay, Tahshiina and Chenyah. Predeceased by his loving mother and father, Laurette (née Dignard) and Edgar Hogan. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Gerry was a well-respected professor of Police foundations at College Boreal and has impacted many of his students’ lives as well as cultivated many beautiful friendships during his 15 years of employment. Gerry started his career with the O.P.P. force, which lasted 21 years and has dedicated his life to helping others and serving the community. He will be fondly missed for his silly sense of humor, his remarkable bravery, his selfless heart, and his devotion to those he loved.

An avid outdoorsman, he found solace at his camp. He loved to fish, and kayak, creating heartwarming memories with those closest to him. He enjoyed yoga, hiking and traveling with his ‘geriatrics’ gang and spoke of those adventures fondly. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date where everyone is welcome to truly honor an extraordinary man. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to The Canadian Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/en/contact-us or Maison McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury. https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/.

  1. I was saddened to hear about Gerry’s passing. His contagious laugh, jovial personality will be dearly missed. One of my most cherished instructor in college, he was always ready to lend a hand, extend an ear or offer words of encouragement. A great menthor, he strived to always make the most out of his day. I am forever grateful to have had the privilege to have had him in my life. Some of my best memories included him and my time in college. Rest in peace Gerry and my condolences to his family, friends and acquaintances, whom, I am sure, will forever be touched by having known him. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May this day of reminiscing his life, bring all of you comfort, peace and a smile knowing that a piece of Gerry lives on in all of us through our fond memories. XO
