Hicks, Ann Prudence Wheatley – (1942-2019)

The family is sadden to announce that Ann passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, ON on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Beloved wife of James Hicks and mother of Cynthia Biondi (Filippo). Fondly remembered by her brothers Stephen Wheatley of Fredericton, NB and John Wheatley (Beth Forestell Wheatley) of St. John, NB. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann was born in Grand-Mère, QC and was raised in Fredericton, NB. She attended Mount Allison University and received a B.Sc. from Acadia University and a B.E. from the University of New Brunswick. She taught school in Labrador City and was a dietitian at the Sudbury General Hospital. Ann was an enigma, loved to play bridge and enjoyed her book clubs. She was an avid shopper at many of the thrift stores where she had many friends. Also, she had many valued friends at the Salvation Army Church and craft class. I would like to thank the Doctors and staff at HSN for the care they provided Ann. Cremation has already taken place, a gathering of family and friends will be announced at a later date for a Celebration of her Life. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made directly to a charity of your choice.

  1. Ann:To your memory:
I am so sorry I didn’t catch up with you before your untimely death; I have been trying to do just that for many years to rekindle our very old and dear friendship. WE spent so many happy hours at Mt Allison and on PEI but through time and distance didn’t get to see each other anymore . I am so sorry to realize you are gone – and unfortunately found your memorial only this morning.
I can only hope you are still listening to Ray Conniff and enjoying so many jokes and good times somewhere in the hereafter. It was a great honor and a pleasure to call you friend for our brief sojourn on earth. Rest well my old pal.

I had the pleasure of sitting beside Ann at the Southend Library Knitting Group on Monday afternoons. We will miss her bubbly conversations and lively spirit. She often spoke of her family, her faith, her dog and dollhouse.
We were all extremely saddened by her passing.
    God bless you all!
