It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yolande Hanson (née Audet) on August 13, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Yolande was the first child of Leo and Rolande Audet, both predeceased. She was also predeceased by her brother, André Audet. She will be remembered by her sister, Nicole, as well as the many family members and friends whose lives she touched throughout the years. Later in life, Yolande made her home in Sudbury, where she built a life filled with friendship, creativity, and community.
Known by many cherished names—Mom, Moma, Gama, PickPick, and Myland—Yolande had a smile that could light up a room and a gift for making friends wherever she went. Her warm spirit, kind heart, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcome in her presence.
Yolande was a talented and creative woman whose artistic abilities were admired by many. She was a skilled stained-glass artist, enjoyed woodworking, and was always finding ways to repair, build, and improve things. Her creativity and resourcefulness were evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer (Paul) and Ashley (Rolly), and by her beloved grandchildren, Lee and Norah, who were the greatest pride and joy of her life. She adored them beyond measure—so much so that she proudly celebrated them with a personalized vanity license plate. Her love for her family was unwavering, and the memories she created with them will be treasured forever.
Yolande will also be deeply missed by her community and by the neighbors who became her chosen family. The friendships she nurtured and the kindness she shared left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
In keeping with Yolande’s wishes, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her memory.
Though she is no longer with us, Yolande’s warmth, creativity, laughter, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
