It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael “Stretch” Grant on Monday, November 7th, 2022, at the age of 52 in Sudbury, Ontario.
Michael is survived by his loving mother Patricia Grant (nee Toner), his brother Sean Grant (husband Daniel Harvey) and son Arran Grant.
He was a special nephew to Larry Toner (wife Lucy), Sandra Akkanen (husband John), Phyllis Fleming (husband Charlie) and predeceased by Randy Toner (wife Margie). Michael will also be missed by his many cousins, extended family and friends as well as his canine buddy Bandit.
Michael had great friendships with Dan Sauve and his son Tyler Sauve, Francine Galipeau, Jeannine and Marcel Roy.
Michael loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. He also had a talent with putting words to paper to express the deep emotions that resided within him.
After a long struggle with addiction Michael is at peace and is now in a safe place.
If you knew Michael, please keep him in your heart. If you know someone who is suffering as Michael did, please find them and tell them how much you love them.
A Celebration of Life for Michael will be planned, and a date communicated to family and friends.
If you would like to honour Michael’s life with a donation, two places that Michael frequented were the Blue Door Soup Kitchen and the Elgin Street Mission, both located in Sudbury. Alternatively, please consider any charity that supports mental health and/or addiction services.
Beautiful obituary and picture in paper.
Deepest sympathy,
Ron and Cathy.

I truly empathize. As someone who lost their sibling through addiction, I pray you find comfort in knowing that their physical suffering is no more and they’re truly at peace. I am so incredibly sorry for your suffering.
