Gifford, Eric Edward – December 20, 1938 – January 16, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Eric Edward Gifford with family by his side at the Maison McCulloch Hospice on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the age of 81. Adoring husband and best friend of 57 years to Phyllis Gifford (nee Kunto). Cherished father of Shane (Maureen), Darrin, Jason (Marylene Breton) and Jamie Gifford (Christina Sanfelice). Cherished grandfather to Vanessa Sampson (Will), Eric Jr Gifford, Tyler Gifford, Justin Gifford, Aaron Gifford, Tricia Gifford, Jordan Gifford and Emily Gifford as well as many great grandchildren. Left to morn are his siblings Sharon Gifford, Pam Lalonde (Richard), Wendy McLaughlin (Abe), Sandra Gifford as well as his in-laws Stan Kunto (Sharon), Ron Kunto (Carmen) and Margaret White (Steve). Eric will be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. Born on December 20, 1938 in Sudbury, he was the son of the late Frank and Bertha Gifford (nee Charron), he eventually decided to lay roots in Wahnapitae where he raised his family. He spent most of his life working as a heavy haul truck driver. Eric will be remembered for his passion of spending time with his family for classic cars and. He was a proud and long-time member of the Sudbury Classic Cruisers, he lived for summer cruises, car shows, weekly Sunday night cruises and family meals with his boys and grandkids. Eric will be greatly missed, but he will live on with the knowledge and talent that he passed on to his four boys and grandchildren. Our family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Maison McCullough hospice and the Northern Cancer Center, your compassion and kindness are second to none, from the doctors, nurses and PSW's right down to the cleaning staff. A special thank you to our close family friend Stacy Lavoie and the Bayshore Nurse Jennifer for always being there for our family and Dad, you are all angels here on earth and we will be forever thankful for the care and dignity you provided. In lieu of flowers donations to the Maison McCullough hospice would be appreciated. As per Eric’s request, there will be no service or visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Colonial Inn, 28 Cedar Street, Coniston from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
