Floreano, Elsa

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Elsa Floreano (nee Midena) on May 23, 2023 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Born on August 16, 1935, in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy she was the daughter of the late Maria (Quai) and Giuseppe Midena of Italy. Devoted wife of 60 years to Aldo Floreano. Loving mother to Gabriel (Mirella Moretta) Floreano of Hamilton and Anna Maria (Jim) Ranger of Sudbury. Proud Nonna to her two grandchildren, Miranda Floreano and Kevin Ranger. Cherished sister to Vittorio, Giovanni, Bruno, and Lucia, all predeceased. Dear sister-in-law to the late Luigi and Pina Buttazzoni of Sudbury, Gino and Antoinette Floreano and Giuseppe (predeceased) and Silvia Floreano of Surrey, BC. Special aunt and great-aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Elsa was an excellent cook and could make anything and everything taste delicious. You would not find a recipe book in Elsa’s home because all of her meals didn’t require a recipe, they came from her heart. March 16, 2023 marked the 60th wedding anniversary of Aldo and Elsa and a small family celebration was held to recognize this important milestone which she was so proud of. She was a true pillar of strength right to her final days and giving up was not an option for her. To the care team at the Maison McCulloch Hospice, the words “thank you” are not enough, your impeccable care is second to none. Special thank you to Dr. Killian De Blacam, the care team at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care (Clarion site), Bayshore HealthCare, Home and Community Care Support Services, the paramedics and all the nurses and PSWs who participated in her care. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Road, Sudbury on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Civic Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to be made to the Maison McCulloch Hospice: https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/=
