England, Isabella (nee Jones)

Isabella “Isabel” England (nee Jones) gained her angel wings on November 14th, 2023, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario, at the age of 77. Anyone who knew her would tell you she was the sweetest, kindest soul, who loved her family and friends with all her heart. Isabel loved to cook, and she loved to feed everybody. Before moving to Sudbury with her young family, Isabel was born and raised in Summerford, Newfoundland, where she perfected the art of cooking traditional Newfie meals such as fish and brews, and jig’s dinner. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of dining with her, you always left the meal with a full tummy and a happy heart. Isabel also loved to camp and fish. When opportunity arose, she would pack up her tent and help load the boat to head out with the whole gang for some backcountry camping to any lake there was deemed to be good fishing. Her love for cooking and the outdoors was passed down to all her family and friends, where her traditions are still honoured, and her memory is kept close to our hearts.

Daughter of the late Cyril and Gladys Jones. Beloved wife of Bryce England (predeceased 2014), and son Warren England (predeceased 2022). Isabel leaves behind her children Chris England (Monica), Shelley Peever (Wayne), Kathy Ste. Marie (Darren), Rob England (Lisette), 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, siblings Ken Jones (Nicole), Ross Jones (Jean), Jean Pond (Norm) both predeceased, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Manor for the care and compassion they provided for our mother.

If desired, donations may be made directly to North Edge Church, 264 Levesque Street, Sudbury, ON, P3B 3T4. A Celebration of Isabel’s Life will be held Saturday, November 18th, 2023, at 1 pm at the Northbury Hotel (50 Brady Street, Sudbury).

  1. Sending heartfelt condolences to Chris, Shelley, Kathy, Rob and your extended families. It was with sadness I heard of Aunt Isabel’s recent passing. She always spoke so lovingly of her children and grandchildren during her NL visits. We had not been in touch as much since mom passed away and the last time we spoke, your mom wanted a cake recipe of mom’s. I know Aunt Isabel thought a lot about her NL family. I have fond memories of time spent with all of you when I came to Sudbury to visit nan and pop Jones. I was living in Toronto at the time and those visits were like being back home again. You have all been in my thoughts these past few days and I know your mom will be greatly missed. Take care and keep your family close. Sending love from St. John’s. xo Norma and Wade
