Dowdall, Arlene (nee Kinkley)

With broken hearts, the family announces the passing of Arlene Dowdall (nee Kinkley) on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the age of 78 after a short but brave battle with cancer. She passed away comfortably and quietly at home, surrounded by family. Arlene is survived by her husband of 58 years and high school sweetheart for a total of 63 years, Dennis Dowdall; son Chris (Perla); grandchildren Blake (Autumn), Michelle (Shannon), John (Praise), Zariah (Laurence); Blake & Michelle’s mother, Paula Murray; sister Candi Blais (Kirby); and many nieces and nephews.  She is pre-deceased by her parents Doris Clare Kinkley (nee Aylsworth) and Maurice Kinkley, stepfather George Clare; brothers Maurice Kinkley and Wayne Kinkley. Arlene worked for many years at Creighton Mine Community Credit Union, retiring in 2000.  She and Dennis enjoyed their time with friends, both here and in Florida.  They were both members at Lively Golf & Country Club and although she wasn’t a long-ball hitter, it was usually straight. Arlene enjoyed her breakfasts at Mr. J’s in Lively while also getting the chance to visit with Mana and the rest of the staff. The family would like to thank Dr. Rose Michael and staff, Dr. Ewing-Bui, Dr. Andrew Pearce, Dr. Mocanu, all the wonderful staff of NEOCC, as well as her fabulous home-care nurse, Kimberley, who went over and above with compassion, care, humour, and song.  At Arlene’s request, there will be no funeral service. However, a Celebration of Life may follow at a later date. Those of you who know Arlene (aka The Barracuda), know that she would not want flowers or plants. With that in mind, we request donations in Arlene’s memory be made directly to the Northeastern Ontario Cancer Center or Maison McCulloch Hospice.

  3. Dennis and family.
Sorry to hear of Arlene’s passing. I can recall way back, when she lived in Little Italy years ago not far from our family. To you Dennis, it’s been many years since I last saw you when we played fastball together. GOD has her in a better place, peace and strength to you and all the family

  6. We are deeply saddened by Arlene’s passing. It’s hard to believe we will never hear her voice again or have a laugh or two. She was always a caring and loyal friend with the memory of a steel trap. Our trips of long ago are fondly remembered, whether they were to play golf or see theatre. It’s almost unfathomable that we played golf one last time only a few weeks ago. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed. Our condolences to Dennis, Chris, Perla and the entire family. Judi and Bill.

  13. Sending our deepest & heartfelt sympathies to Dennis, Chris, Perla, Candi, Kirby and their families. Arlene was an incredible woman who touched so many lives. She was a very wise and loving person who had the ability to “say it like it is “ with a dash of that witty sense of humour of hers!!
We are all stronger and better people from the presence she played in our lives. To say she will be greatly missed is still an understatement. She is unforgettable.
