Jacklin, Dorothy Gertrude (nee Holton)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorothy G. Jacklin. She passed peacefully in her sleep in her 103 year on 25 May 2023, at Extendicare, in Sudbury Ontario.

She was predeceased, by her beloved husband Cecil (1989), whom she met at Rosseau Road Ontario. She was also predeceased by her son, Ken  (2015), Daughter-in-Law Nancy (2000), brother John (2007), sisters Ruth (2009) and Emily (2019), and grandson Sean (2009). She is survived, by her children, Jerry (Donna), Daughter-in-Law Linda, Karen (David), and Janice (Mike), along with 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Dorothy was born in Cardwell Township to Gertrude and William Holton on 12 January 1921. After her marriage to Cecil she lived the rest of her life in Sudbury ON.

Dorothy was a strong caring and loving woman devoted to her family, who worked tirelessly at St. James Anglican Church in Sudbury.  She devoted a great deal of her life aside from church to volunteering at the Crisis Help Line, the Red Cross and the Cancer Society.

She held various positions as a secretary, accounts receivable at Eaton’s, Bank Teller and finally as a personal secretary for Mary Conroy who published a quilting magazine.

For 23 years, her greatest pastime was playing bridge with her neighbour friends, Shirley, Sylvia, Terry, Ruth and Edith.

Her greatest passion was her family and she devoted as much free time as possible to their support and well-being.

She lived a fulfilling and long life, and she will be greatly missed by her family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Church of the Redeemer in Rosseau, ON, on 19th of June 2023 at 1:00 pm with reception to follow.
