Claire Marguerite Dormer (née Mulligan), 89 years, on Thursday, February 22, 2024 peacefully at home with loving family by her side, to be reunited with her beloved William (Bill). Loving mother of her four children Jeff and Sharon Dormer of Espanola, Denis Dormer of Sudbury, Sheila Marshall of Sudbury and Marion and Kyle Russell of Ancaster. Cherished Nonni to Cody (Sara), Kylee, James, Jorden, Jessica, Morgan (Lawrence), Taylor (Carolyn), Keegan (Haley) and Sabrina. Loved by her great-grandchildren Riordan, Ashton and Greyson. Claire’s thoughtfulness, sense of humour and quick wit were appreciated and will be deeply missed by her treasured niece and nephews David, Mark (predeceased), Jan and Tod McNab, many friends and bridge partners in Sudbury and Espanola and her classmates in the Marymount School of Nursing Class of ’55. She felt truly blessed to have so many good friends and was a proud nurse, right to the end.
The family would like to thank everyone involved in providing such exceptional care for our mother including the care teams of Southwind Retirement Residence, Home & Community Care Palliative Care Team, Bayshore Home Health and the Maison McCulloch Hospice Community Hospice Palliative Care Team.
Funeral Mass to be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Road at 11:00 AM. Visitors will be received at 10:30 a.m. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed at the following link: Live Stream - Claire Dormer. Donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice and the Shirley and Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
Claire’s colleagues at RTO/ERO (Retired Teachers of Ontario), send their condolences. We know that your comfort will come from the telling of her life’s stories who knew the joy of her presence in their lives. Claire’s name has been added to our in Memoriam.
