Corrigan, Thomas Michael

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Thomas Michael Corrigan, aged 74. Thomas passed peacefully at the home he cherished on Saturday, July 10, 2021. He is survived by his wife & best friend Margretta (nee Maki), his sons Michael (Jill) and Matthew, and his stepsons Scott (Pam) and Kevin (Shawna) Smith. He is predeceased by his parents Cecil & Yvonne (nee Denomme) Corrigan and his brother Leslie (Rachelle). He will be missed by the whole family, including his grandchildren Thomas, Chanelle, Emma, Adam, Audrey, Oliver, Cooper, Olive, Jacob, Katie, and Kally, and his brothers Jack (Lorraine), Donald (Edna), Douglas, Larry (Heather), Christopher (Denise), and Patrick (Jewelly) and his many nieces and nephews, along with his Bonus Family of grandchildren Rosalina and Maximo Cicciarelli and “daughter-in-law” Nikki Desjardins. Thomas was a skilled woodworker and a talented photographer (particularly of birds). He taught Chemistry at Lively District Secondary School for 31 years. He leaves behind a legacy of gorgeous wood craftsmanship, beautiful photographs, a generation of former students, a loving family, and a lifetime of dry brilliant humour that will continue to bring an embarrassed smile to those who knew him. Thanks to Dr. Centis, the Northeast Cancer Centre, Dr. Cano, Dr. Lam, Dr. Ravi Singh and Asha, along with Kristy Ballantyne, Shailesh Patel, and all of the nurses at Bayshore. Donations made directly to the Northeast Cancer Centre would be appreciated.

  7. My deepest sympathy for your loss. Mr. Corrigan was the reason I was able to go into chemistry and pass my degree!! I eventually moved from lab work to teaching and I think he would laugh to know I was still using his problem solving methods 30 years later.
He told me to stop memorizing the textbook and try to understand instead-great advice from an excellent educator.

  12. I will always remember him as being a very funny (if you got the humour) and straightforward teacher. Chemistry was not my passion and he was very patient. The night I met my husband (1981), I was supposed to be studying for a chemistry exam. I passed the exam anyways and got the guy. Mr. Corrigan is part of my history forever.
Rest in peace and thank you.
