Celebration of Life for the Late William “Bill” Emiry McLeod

The family of the late William “Bill” Emiry McLeod would like to announce, that a Celebration of his Life will take place on Monday, June 6, 2022, at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club, 400 Walford Rd, Sudbury, ON P3E 2G9 from 2-5 p.m.

William “Bill” Emiry McLeod was born on April 24, 1941, in Chapleau, ON, to Willliam Borden and Georgina Isadora (nee Emiry) McLeod. He passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on June 5, 2021, in Sudbury, ON.

In between, he led an eventful and accomplished life.  Bill was an academic (WLU B.B.A & MSU MBA), professor of business at Cambrian College from 1969-98, a businessman, and a published author of over a dozen books on business and Chapleau history, the latest and most significant being “St. John’s (Anglican) Residential Schools”.  He was a devoted husband to Sheryl (Ade) for 52 years, loving father to Heather (Jean-Marc Lacoste), David (Carla Royston), and Neil (Jennifer deBarros) and doting grandfather to Paul, Joseph, and Charlie, and cherished cousin to Bonnie Gould, brother-in-law to Hal Ade, Dorothy Covert (Bob), and Rob (predeceased) Ade (Terry) and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He seemed to know almost everyone and had many lifelong and new friends.

Bill was a member of the following clubs; the Tim Horton’s Squad, Idylwylde Golf Club, Cambrian Clan, the Eden Point Crew, and the Sunset Chateau Gang in Florida - where he loved to chat about local and world events & politics.

What made Bill happy was; his annual trips to see the Spartans homecoming games, travelling, gardening, blueberry picking, making (and drinking) blueberry wine, “amusing” us with his horrible dad-jokes, and cruising in his ’66 Mustang convertible.  He was loved, he will be missed, and he will never be forgotten.

Thanks to the wonderful Bayshore nurses and PSWs for their compassionate support and help and to the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Please feel free to support either one of these organizations as well as the Northern Cancer Foundation in Bill’s memory.

  2. My deepest condolences to Sheryl and Bill’s family. He and I strived at Cambrian at the same time in 1969 in time for the Fall semester and we taught pretty much the same period , 39 years for him and 44 years for me. Located as it was in the aged and dilapidated Sacred Heart College, it none the less was for many of the original gang the golden age of the College. There was a remarkable collection of faculty members who had remarkable and interesting careers and Emi was in the top rank as a practitioner and a teacher. He made a really solid contribution to Cambrian and to the community. I will remember him for sure and I know his family through the generations will have a lot to be proud of.
