Brunet, Daniel

Our family is heartbroken to share the news of our beloved Daniel Brunet's passing on April 27, 2026 at 44 years old. A son, brother, father, uncle and friend to many, Dan, was a force to be reckoned with.

Over the last couple of years, he taught us about unconditional love and radical acceptance.

Dan had the biggest heart and always wore his emotions on his sleeve (for better or worse).

The heart of an artist, he was endlessly creative and generous with a love of music. The soul of a poet, he expressed his struggles through poetry and song. The mind of an engineer, he was so smart and loved to tinker. He was always building, repairing, and making new things out of found treasures. He loved the outdoors and found peace in the wilderness – especially out in British Columbia, which seemed to call to him at various points in his life.

His inner strength was remarkable, and we were all inspired by and so proud of his recovery over the last six months, where he faced his addiction and was as fearless and reckless as Dan always was, as he did his best to live his cleanest life possible without medical intervention. He was working towards rebuilding a life where he could help others who were suffering from the same affliction.

Sadly, he was taken from us too soon to see the fruits of his labour.

Dan leaves behind his parents, Henry and Karen, his sisters Carrie and Angie (Dave), brother Steve (Jessica) and nieces Abigail, Max, and Jayde and nephews, Connor and Xander. His only son, Calieb, lives out in B.C. with his mother Amy. Rest in peace Daniel.  We would like to thank The Go-Give Project for all the work they do in helping families stay connected. If it weren't for their work, we would not have had as much time with Dan as we did. We are eternally grateful. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts be directed to The Go Give Project in Daniel's name.
