The family announces with sorrow Shirley’s death on Friday, January 31, 2025 in Sudbury at the age of 84. Daughter of Walter and Anne Tarrant (both predeceased). Beloved wife and best friend of Michael Brennan (predeceased). Survived by her daughter, Kathy Barnard of Sudbury, son-in-law, Drew Barnard, and granddaughters Miriam and Elisha Barnard of Port Coquitlam, B.C. Predeceased by her sister, June Lecour (Lynwood) and her brother Donald Tarrant. Dear sister-in-law Ellen Cayen (Roger), Sister Kathleen Brennan, Dennis Brennan (Penny), Elizabeth Drolet (Jack), all predeceased, and Margaret Lafleur of Owen Sound. Special aunt to Wade Lecour (Mary) of Oakville, Brent Lecour of Kapuskasing, and Bradley Lecour of Sudbury. Special great-aunt to Jeffrey, AJ, and Rebecca Lecour of Sudbury.
Born and raised in Garson, Shirley remained a life-long resident of the community until 2023. She was a retired secretary who worked at Nickel District Secondary School / Northeastern Secondary School for over 30 years, having developed many close friendships from work and her neighborhood. An avid Blue Jays fan who also enjoyed travelling. Thank you to the staff at Extendicare Falconbridge/Countryside for their dedicated care over the past 21 months. At Shirley’s request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service and Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced.

Shirley was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend – she will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
