The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Rita Branconnier, 90 years, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Pioneer Manor Long-Term Care in Sudbury. Born in Hanmer, she was the daughter of the late Aldège and Alice (née Pigeon) Bigras. Beloved wife of 71 years to Henri Branconnier (predeceased) of St-Charles. Loving mother of René (Claudette), Denis (Vida), Gilles (predeceased), Diane Morgan Zelinsky (husband Victor Zelinsky, Carlton Morgan predeceased), Lise Lecompte (Marc predeceased), and Lynn (Luc Castonguay). Cherished grandmother of Yves, Kim (Darryl), Debbie-Lyne, Daniel (Linda), Tina (Calum), Alain, Carlton Jr., David, Sylvie (Richard), Michel (Carol-Ann), and André (Johannie). Adored great-grandmother of Teanna, Darrion, Joshua, Meagan, Mya, Arianna, Isabelle, Kaleb, Matt, Miana, Adam, Even, Warren and Ashley. Sadly missed by many siblings, nieces, nephews, and relatives. Rita was a homemaker with a heart of gold whose focus in life was ensuring that everyone was taken care of. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, word searches, and card games. The family would like to thank the staff of Pioneer Manor for the care they provided to Rita. A Funeral Mass will take place at St-Jean-de-Brébeuf Church, 26 Kathleen Street, on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10:30a.m., with a combined Celebration of Life for Rita and Henri to follow in the Church Hall. Interment of their cremains will take place at a later date.
