Blount, Jerry

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerry Blount, 87 years, who passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Born in Weaverham, England, he was the son of the late George and Amy (nee Day) Blount. Left to mourn are his loving family and friends. In his retirement years, Jerry loved to travel, golf, enjoyed painting and drawing, pizza and beer nights, and especially hosting the weekly "Survivor" viewings at his home - but you had to know how to be quiet. More importantly, Jerry loved being surrounded by his loving family and friends, which was very evident in his last hours where he was surrounded by love and messages of comfort. Predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Diane (Swanson). Jerry leaves behind his loving family and is survived by children Noreen, Elizabeth (Rob), David (Violet), Chris (Debbie), Amy. He was the cherished grandfather of Samantha (Tenn), Joanna (Darcey), Diana (Dave) Meaghan (Jason), Josh, Matt (Leah), Bob, Dallas, Morgan, Robin (Julia), Riley, and great grandfather of Adryan, Kaylee (Anthony), Alice, Lillian, and Taylor. Dearly loved brother of Tony who resides in the UK, along with multiple family members. Feel free to leave a sympathy message for the family on the memorial page of Jerry Blount to pay them a last tribute. A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 76 (1553 Weller Street, Greater Sudbury). Family and friends are welcome to gather from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Special thanks to Dr. Carlson, Dr. Singh, the fourth floor HSN Nursing staff, and all staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their compassion and care. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, greatly appreciated donations be made in Jerry’s memory to Maison McCullough Hospice at www.maisonsudburyhospice.org

  2. When I think of Jerry I think of Diane too. They were very special people in my life from a very young age as our families lived across the street from one another. Friends, surrogate parents and then my employer during my teenage years. I believe they are together again, smiling and watching over their family at this difficult time. My sincere condolences to all. RIP until we meet again xox

  4. Our sincere condolences to all of Jerry’s family. We had the great fortune to be his neighbour and friend for over 20 years. Jerry was such a wonderful person, so full of stories, gifted in doing beautiful art and woodworking, a dedicated gardener, but most of all a wonderful person generous with his time and good humour. He will be missed greatly.
