It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Robert Alexander on October 27th, 2026, at the age of 69 years.
Born in Sudbury, Ontario, on November 25th, 1956, to Eileen (nee Adams) and John (predeceased). Robert was an only child and the absolute apple of his mother's eye. He later became a loving stepson to Bud Propper, and stepbrother to Jeff. Although born in Sudbury, he was raised on Manitoulin Island, and he remained a Haweater at heart throughout his life. The island held a special place in his heart, and it was where he met Bev, the mother of his children, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.
In his early years, Robert was a manager at Parmalat Dairy before eventually hitting the road driving trucks for Day Transport. Of all the jobs he held throughout his life, none meant more to him than being a father. His greatest pride was his family. Robert was a devoted dad to Bob (Jo-Anne), Becky (Dwayne), and Kurtis (Melissa). He spent countless hours in arenas cheering on his boys as they played hockey and proudly watching his daughter dance at her recitals. He took pride in watching his children grow and build families of their own. In 2000, Robert became Poppa, and his family continued to grow. Robert was a proud Poppa to six grandchildren: Alexis (Tshiondo), Adrianne, Kylie, Tessa, Will, and Jack. His family brought him great joy, and being their Poppa was a role he cherished.
Robert loved to hunt and was never happier than when he was out in the bush on the Island. He also loved a good party and was never one to sit on the sideline when there was music playing. He was always ready to get up and dance, and his infectious smile would light up a room
Wherever Robert went, there was always a little four-legged companion by his side. His beloved dog, Molly, was his best friend and the two could often be found driving around together in his bright blue truck. It was one of those simple, everyday joys that made him who he was.
Robert will forever be remembered for his love of family, his connection to the Island, his love of a good time, his infectious smile, and the many beautiful memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association. (www.manitoulinstreams.com)
