Sally Marie Rose Ann McGuire was born in Pembroke on January 31, 1978, entering the world with a spark that refused to dim, no matter what life placed in her path. On June 2, 2026, she passed suddenly from a heart attack while at work, a place where she was respected, relied upon, and deeply valued. Her departure was unexpected, yet the love she left behind remains steady and enduring.
She moved to North Bay in her twenties, carrying little more than determination, a wicked sense of humor, and a heart wide enough to hold anyone who needed a place to belong. And belong they did, because Sally created family everywhere she went, wanted or not. When life did not give her the family she deserved, she simply built one herself.
One of the greatest joys of her life was her partner, Shirley Sagle, the woman she loved with her whole heart. Their relationship was the kind of love that felt like home, steady and playful, full of inside jokes, shared coffees, and the kind of quiet devotion that does not need to be announced to be felt. Together they built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and a deep, unwavering tenderness. Sally adored Shirley, and Shirley adored her right back.
Her love extended to her animals. Her cats and dogs were her constant companions, her comfort, and her joy. She loved them with the same fierce loyalty she gave to people, and they returned that love tenfold.
Sally was incredibly proud of her career, where she worked her way into a leadership role as an operations supervisor. She was the steady heartbeat of her workplace, reliable, integral, and the glue that held partnerships and people together. She did not just do her job; she elevated it, forging connections that lasted far beyond the workday.
A lifelong Blue Jays fan, she loved the crack of a bat, the dust of the diamond, and the thrill of the game. She umpired with fairness, grit, and a joy that made the ballfield feel like home.
Her smile was contagious, her laughter unmistakable, and her zingers legendary. She loved Tim Hortons, loved to make people feel like they mattered, and lived with a positivity that lifted everyone around her. She will be dearly missed, but even more, she will be remembered, because she made herself unforgettable.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13th from 1–4 p.m. at 177 McNaughton St., Sudbury, ON. Please bring stories to share. At 2 p.m., we will pause for a few moments of remembrance and welcome anyone who wishes to speak.

Sal’s passing is so unfair. Such a hard-working and unyielding person deserves more than what life has given her. Till we meet again, I will have more inappropriate jokes for you.

Sally, we shared the same birthday, and for more than 15 years we never missed a call to wish each other a Happy Birthday. I am going to miss you so much—your smile, your laugh, and the joy you brought to everyone around you. You were truly one of a kind, an angel on earth who has now earned her wings in heaven.
Sleep well, my dear friend. Until we meet again, you will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️

Our family met Sally at the ball field. She was always cheerful and patient with the young players.
When our daughter was interested in pitching she came out and assisted the girls. She was a fantastic friend and umpire. She had a big warm heart and always found the best in those around her.
So sorry to hear that she has left us so early.
Our sincere condolences to her loved ones and friends.

I cannot adequately express just how devastated I was to hear the horrible news of Sally’s sudden passing. I’ve known Sally (Big Sal) for many decades. She would visit often, when we would all come to Eganville to visit mutual loved one, Philly, my sister in law, who passed away almost a year ago herself. Sally was just so full of life and had the best sense of humour. She was always there for everyone, helping wherever and whenever she could which was pretty much always. The hole you have left in our hearts could never be filled. You are cherished always and missed well beyond measure. I love you, my friend. We will meet again.

I just heard this news today Sal. We met through work. You made my job so much easier every day with your willingness to help out wherever and however you could. I enjoyed our phone chats and rants. You had to be the most positive and glass half full person I’ve ever met. The world will definitely be less bright without your light in it. Condolences to all family and friends.

I worked with Sal through FedEx where Northbound was one of our third party delivery services. She was always super happy and joking around and made my time at work, Awesome!. You could always feel that she supported you and had your back and I loved that about her. I hope that every one of her family, friends and loved ones knows what an exceptional human being she was and knows that a lot of people really loved her. She will be sadly missed.

You will be sorely missed Sal. You brought laughter and sunshine wherever you went. I remember all the good times we had in Newfoundland in Romona’s shed. Oh the laughs we had! And that’s how I will remember you. My deepest condolences to Shirley, all the family and her many, many friends. Until we meet again my friend.
