Gorman, Robert “Dale”

July 12th, 1943 – January 8th, 2026

It is with great sorrow that the Gorman family announces the passing of Robert “Dale” Gorman on Thursday, January 8th, 2026 at Finlandia Village, Sudbury. Beloved son of the late Bob and Bernice Gorman. Loving brother to Kathleen (Gordon Naponse predeceased), Coralee (Larry Naponse), Linda-Lou (John Meneghello), Betty-Ann (predeceased), Ollie (Eileen), Melvin (predeceased), Margaret (Rick Sabucco), Joy (Randy Nadeau), Mark (Katie), Sheila (Dennis Harper), and Bobbie-Jo Gorman. Cherished uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Dale grew up in Naughton and attended Naughton Elementary and Copper Cliff High School. He was a great hockey player from childhood and into his mid-sixties. After a few years in the Armed Forces, Dale pursued a career in mining. His profession took him to many mining areas across Canada, and as far east as India. His most favourite spot in the west was without a doubt Fernie, BC where he spent many days on the ski slopes. His time working for Granduc in Stewart, BC was also a big part of his life.

Dale loved boating and very much enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Lake Penage. In later years he enjoyed the gym and riding his bike.

We would like to send special thanks to the staff of Finlandia where Dale resided the past three years. They took wonderful care of him, and he absolutely loved his time there. The family will be hosting a celebration of his life with his friends and family at the Naughton Community Centre in early June 2026 (previously the Old Naughton Public School). Exact date to be announced later. RIP Dale – you will be missed. Thanks for many great memories.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating directly to the Bernice Gorman Bursary Fund at Rainbow School District or the Sudbury Food Bank.
